Overview
This site is a tool for determining where to look next in the case of an epidemic. The premise of this tool is to construct a network based on the expected number of patients transferred from one facility to another that meet a certain criterion. For example, we may wish to know the expected number of patients transferred between facility A and facility B which spend at least 4 days at each healthcare facility.
In the
View All Hospitals
tab, you may select the state of interest (IA, WI, or NE) and the criterion of interest (length of stay, number of diagnoses, number of procedures). The figure shows the network constructed based on the selections made, where the level of transparency corresponds to the edge weight. Please note that the each time the state or criterion changes, the network image will be updated, and this takes some time to render. However, you may proceed to the
Specific Hospitals
tab without waiting for this image to render.
In the
Specific Hospitals
tab, you may type in the AHA IDs of the hospitals at which the infectious disease has been tested positive. Multiple IDs may be included by separating with a space. The figure shows the edges, which again vary in transparency according to its weight. Below the image you will find an list of edges ordered by edge weight. Specifically, the list provides the source hospital (one of the AHA IDs input by the user), the target hospital, and the expected number of patients transferred that, e.g., spend at least four days in each of the source and target hospitals.
